What is independent learning?
Independent can be defined as, not reliant on the support of others; capable of acting for oneself on one’s own, whilst Learning can be defined as, the art of gaining knowledge
Independent learning is therefore the art of gaining knowledge on one’s own, without relying on the support of others. If you are an independent learner you will be motivated to learn, manage your own time and reflect on your learning.
Whilst in Sixth Form, you will be expected to complete obligatory study sessions each day, alongside your normal lessons. During these sessions you will complete homework, revise, ensure your folders are kept neat and tidy, and conduct extended reading and research. Mrs G Walker oversees these sessions and provides support and mentoring to all students.
