Following our inspection by Ofsted on 15th and 16th October 2024, we are now able to share the final report with you all. We are delighted to tell you that Ofsted have again judged all aspects of The Bewdley School to be “Good”. We are extremely proud of this positive outcome which is testament to the care and commitment of our staff, the support of our parents and carers, and of course, a celebration of our wonderful students.
At Bewdley, external visitors as well as parents and carers often comment on the warmth and care given to students and frequently leave with a strong impression of staff’s enthusiasm, supportiveness, and kindness. Our Ofsted report captured this in the opening statement:
“This welcoming and inclusive school is wholeheartedly focused on its pupils. Pupils settle in quickly when they arrive. They understand that staff care for them and want them to succeed. Pupils feel safe and know they have support around them when they need it.”
The report identified that there are areas for development and these are already part of our school improvement plan. We have been working hard to ensure that we adapt teaching to meet the needs of all of our students as well as checking how well students have understood work before moving on. We are delighted that Ofsted have recognised the changes made to our curriculum:
“The school has strengthened the curriculum to ensure that it is more ambitious from Year 7 to the end of the sixth form. In all subjects, the learning is carefully sequenced. Pupils and students in the sixth form benefit from this and do well.”
We are very pleased with the outcome of our inspection and you can read the attached report in full. The report will also be published on the Ofsted and school website by the end of next week.
