INTERNATIONAL LINKS
In today’s interconnected world, it has become increasingly vital for educational institutions to establish international links that transcend geographical boundaries. These links not only provide students with unique opportunities for cultural exchange and global understanding but also enhance the overall educational experience. At The Bewdley school, we recognise the importance of fostering international connections, and we are committed to providing our students with a global perspective that prepares them for success in an increasingly diverse and interconnected world.
Through our international links, we aim to create a learning environment that goes beyond traditional classroom boundaries. We actively seek partnerships with schools and institutions across the globe, allowing our students to engage in collaborative projects, cultural exchanges, and joint learning experiences. By connecting our students with peers from different countries, we expose them to diverse perspectives and help them develop a global mindset.
These international links bring a many of benefits to our students. Firstly, they promote cultural awareness and sensitivity, enabling our students to appreciate different cultures, traditions, and languages. This exposure helps to develop their empathy, respect, and appreciation for diversity, while also breaking down stereotypes and fostering a more inclusive school community.
In conclusion, our international links play a crucial role in shaping our students into global citizens who are prepared to navigate the complexities of our interconnected world. By embracing cultural diversity, promoting, and fostering collaborative learning experiences, we ensure that our students are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in an increasingly globalised society.

International student testimonials
Federico, from Italy
“I’ve been an exchange student for one month already and since I’m here I could see and experience many shades of the UK and I’m loving most of them, except for the weather. Although I’ve been in Bewdley for 1 week only, people made me feel comfortable as soon as I stepped off the bus, welcoming me in a way that I never expected. I’m studying 4 subjects here, Psychology, Sociology, Maths and Film Studies (my favourite) and even if what I’m used to studying in Italy is completely different, you can’t imagine how much I’m enjoying studying new things, trying to assimilate as much as I can. Being an exchange student is something I recommend to everyone as an experience that can enrich and change you forever.”
Mariana from Brazil
“Ever since I got to the Bewdley Sixth Form, I have been having a wonderful time. The school offers good and appropriate study rooms and classrooms. I can also emphasise the quality of the technology and materials used in class. The teachers are all very nice and welcoming. The lessons are engaging and spark my interest in learning. Also, the students are very warm and friendly. I’m grateful for all the experience I’ve had since the first day I got here!”
Elif from Turkey
“I’m from Turkey. I came to England on an exchange program for about 5 months and I’ve almost completed my second month here. I felt welcome by everyone during my time here and they helped me so much. The teachers are very good both academically and personally. Also, the students helped me a lot in every sense to get used to being here.”
Angelica, from Italy
“Being a student at The Bewdley School was a wonderful experience. I lived six months in England but I really wished it were more and one of the reasons for this is definitely the great connection I have with the Bewdley School and with all my classmates and teachers. I never felt out of place, on the contrary, I felt like a real student of this school and not just an exchange student. I learned new subjects and notions that I would never have learned if I had stayed in Italy and furthermore I did not only take lessons in this school but I was able to experience a school system different from that of my country and it was a unique and rare experience. I was able to make many friends during this exchange experience also thanks to the school given that I saw many of my classmates not only in school but also outside of school. A special thanks definitely goes to my teachers of the subjects I studied in England, there are many but I will mention just a few: Thank you Ms Simmons for treating me like a normal student and for making me passionate about sociology; a subject that has always fascinated me but that I never studied in depth before coming to the UK, Thank you Mr Houillon for having made me experience not only English culture but also French culture thanks to his lessons and for having taught me to analyse a film and not just watch it and last but not least a thank you to Mr Alcorn for having made me more and more passionate about music. My experience at The Bewdley School is coming to an end but I will always consider myself a student of this school.”
Matilde, from Italy
“My time at The Bewdley School has been one of the most enriching and life-changing experiences I could have ever imagined. Coming here as an international student, I was excited but also quite anxious about fitting in and adapting to a completely new way of life. From the very first day, however, I was welcomed so warmly by my teachers especially Ms Simmons who’s lessons I cherished mostly and classmates that I immediately felt at ease. One of the things I have loved most about studying here is how supportive and friendly everyone is it truly feels like a big family where people look out for each other.
One of the highlights of the experience has been having to deal with a real life case, in criminology during a simulation having to collect evidence, and solve the case, me and my team made of classmates had to cooperate and listen to each other as well as pay attention not to damage evidence and to handle stressful situations under time conditions, we had plenty of fun, learned about the subject but also understood more about ourselves, our strengths and weaknesses and how to support one another.
Academically, I have learned so much, not just from lessons but from the way we are encouraged to think critically, ask questions, and work together. I have seen my confidence grow, especially in presenting in front of others something that used to scare me! Beyond lessons, I will never forget the incredible time off enjoying my frees in the study room reading and chatting with my friends as well as all the laughter shared with my friends at lunch breaks in between lessons. Experiencing British traditions, celebrating different cultures, and being part of school life here has opened my mind and taught me to appreciate diversity in ways I never expected.
Living away from my family at first was hard, but it taught me independence and resilience, and I am so proud of how much I have grown. The friendships I have made at Bewdley are very special to me, and I know we will stay in touch no matter where we go in the world. I will always look back on my time here with huge gratitude and happiness, and I hope future international students will feel as welcomed and inspired as I did. The Bewdley School will always hold a very dear place in my heart.”
