What time does school start and finish?

School starts at 08:45 and finishes at 15:20.

How will I know where to go?

On the first day you will be given a timetable which will tell you where you need to be and when. Students and staff can help direct you if you get lost.

How long is lunchtime? 

Lunch time is 35 minutes and begins at 12:40.

Where can I eat my lunch? 

You can eat your lunch either in the main dinner hall or at the picnic area otherwise known as the ‘Pod’.

How much homework will I get? 

Depending on what subject you have during that day you, will be set at least one piece of homework every two weeks per subject. 

What do I do if I feel unwell? 

You should tell your class teacher and tell them you are feeling unwell. A member of staff will come and take you to our first aid room. 

What do I do if I’m upset about something? 

The best person to talk to is your form tutor, if you cannot find them, go straight to the Key Stage 3 office in A block to speak to a member of the pastoral team. 

What if I have lost something? 

All lost property, including uniform and equipment, is taken to the main reception for students to collect – It will be really helpful if all of your equipment and uniform has your name on it!

Why might I get a detention? 

We do not like to give out detentions, but if a student is not meeting our expectations, a teacher may decide to issue you with a break or lunchtime detention. For example, repeated defiance in class may mean you get a detention.

What food can I buy from the school? 

At school we offer a range of foods that can be bought either from the Pod or the canteen. This includes things like a wrap, a drink or even a roast dinner depending on what day of the week it is. All meals are advertised in the canteen.

Are mobile phones allowed? 

Mobile phones should be switched off, and put in the bottom of your school bag. If the phone makes a noise or is seen, then it will be taken from you and handed into the main reception.

How many teachers will I have? 

Each subject is taught by a subject specialist and that’s means that you will have a range of teachers. They will all be in different rooms which will be explained on your timetable. You will always have the same form tutor if you have any concerns or worries. 

Can I use the toilet during lesson time?

Students are not allowed to use the toilets during lesson time unless medically exempt. Students can use the toilets during lesson changeover and at social times.
