As the end of term approaches, we would like to thank you for your support throughout this very busy term; as always, it is greatly appreciated. Next academic year, we will see the return of our substantive Headteacher, Mr Hadley-Pryce returning to lead the school following his sabbatical. We are excited to welcome him back and we would like to take this opportunity to thank him for giving us the opportunity to lead the school during this academic year. Mr Hadley-Pryce has been in school meeting with colleagues this half term so the transition back to his leadership and the former Leadership structure will be seamless for students and families in September.

The year has been extremely busy and some key highlights this half-term have included:

  • Transition days for our new Year 7 and 12 intakes
  • Year 10 boys winning the football County cup final
  • Enrichment trips to Drayton Manor and West Midlands Safari Park
  • Year 11 and 13 proms
  • Germany music tour
  • Key stage 3 and 4 end of year awards ceremony
  • 200 Club rewards celebration
  • Duke of Edinburgh expeditions at Silver and Gold
  • County cricket tournaments
  • House charities events including the Summer Fete raising
    £467.94 – Kidderminster Foodbank

Congratulations to our 2024/25 winning House, who this year is Baldwin House with 9727 points! Ribbesford House finished 2nd and Severn House in 3rd place.

It has been amazing to see our Year 11 and 13 students successfully sit their exams and we wish them well for their results in August.

School Transport will be available at the end of the school day, with the exception of S15 & 292S, where students will have to walk into Bewdley Town itself.

Start of term in September
We will re-open on Tuesday 2nd September to Year 7 and Sixth Form students only and the rest of the school will return on Wednesday 3rd September 2025. Students are expected to be on-site for no later than 8.40am. The school has a Teacher Training day on Monday 1st September 2025 and is closed to everyone.

Arbor
We are excited to announce that we will be moving our MIS to Arbor for September 2025.  Adopting Arbor will allow us to communicate with you more efficiently and bring all core school data and workflows into one system. Arbor will also have a dedicated parent app to see detailed information such as attendance, punctuality, behaviour etc. about your child. We will send further communication on the parental app and how to register at the start of next term.

Mental health and wellbeing
The summer holidays can be a time to relax, recharge and take a break. However, young people may struggle with the loss of structure and not seeing their friends every day. It’s important that students look after their mental wellbeing during the break. The summer can also be a great time to develop good self-care habits, so that when term starts again, you have techniques you can turn to in stressful times. Please find links to resources that contain activities and guidance to help support and boost mental wellbeing over the summer and beyond.

Further information is available for parents to support their child’s mental health through young minds. They offer tailored information, advice and support to parents and carers who are concerned about their child or young person’s mental health. You can speak to them over the phone, or chat to online. https://www.youngminds.org.uk/parent/parents-helpline

Pastoral Care changes
In order to further enhance the pastoral care for our students we are making some changes in the way pastoral care is delivered at the school. The school has had a traditional Head of Year system for many years. From September 2025, we are moving to a Pastoral Manager (PM) and Pastoral Leader (PL) model. The ‘PM’ will have strategic oversight over certain year groups and the ‘PL’ will have day-to-day responsibility for key pastoral concerns. As always, your child’s Form Tutor will always be the first port of call for any pastoral queries or concerns.

Form Tutor – First port of call for any pastoral queries or concerns

Mrs O’Sullivan – Pastoral Leader Year 7
Mrs Roche – Pastoral Leader Year 8
Mrs Froggatt – Pastoral Leader Year 9
Mrs Harper – Pastoral Leader Year 10
Mrs Muir – Pastoral Leader Year 11

Mrs Evetts – Pastoral Manager Year 7 & 8
Mrs Leach – Pastoral Manager Year 9 & 10
Mr Bromley – Pastoral Manager Year 11

School uniform
Please can we take this opportunity to ask you to reinforce the standards of uniform that are expected at The Bewdley School. We recognise the increasing cost of uniform, and we continue to support by making uniform available to all students when appropriate.  Staff will be checking students’ uniform upon arrival at school each day. Should students arrive to school with the incorrect uniform, they will be provided with uniform which they will be expected to wear and return at the end of the school day. Each student then has the opportunity to ensure the rest of their day can be a positive experience, focused purely on their learning. Our uniform expectations can be found here. Please note that piercings (one pair of studs can be worn) and ‘jeggings/jeans’ are not permitted and students will be asked to remove/change accordingly.
