Alumni

The Bewdley School (formerly known as The Bewdley School & Sixth Form Centre) has its origins in the Bewdley County Secondary School which opened in April 1956. In 1972 the area adopted a three-tier system, and the school became Bewdley High School. When the area returned to a two-tier system in 2007, the High School was amalgamated with the two local middle schools to form The Bewdley School.

We have a dazzling array of ex-students of the school in its various incarnations, and the purpose of this page is to bring this community of wonderful Alumni together. We are also forming the ‘Friends of The Bewdley School’, and if you would like to know more about this please check the box on the Alumni registration form below.

The purpose of our alumni community is not simply to create a list of ex-students, but to bring the current life of the school to those ex-students in all of its glory and to involve them where practicable. It will become a thriving community, which both supports and contributes to the development of the school. Business

Connections with business are a crucial part of education for many reasons, not least of which the need for young people to be prepared and have the necessary ‘employability skills’. In the latter part of the twentieth century and first decade of this, the hub around which this work revolved were Education Business Partnerships (EBPs).

These were, until 2011, UK-government-sponsored bodies, when the Department for Education (DfE) abolished the funding. They are now commercial organisations with schools struggling to fund this work, though some parts are carried out by the Careers and Enterprise Company, created as a social enterprise in 2015.

The Bewdley School is acutely aware of the importance of this work, and as a member of Hereford and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce plans to establish its own school centred Education Business Partnership to support this work. Development focus will be around the Gatsby Benchmarks. If you are a local or national business or employer who would like to be involved in this work, please complete the form below.

Community

Bewdley Town is a tight-knit and thriving community. Many of our most productive and energetic partnerships are with organisations from within the town which bring immeasurable value to the school. If you are a member of a local community organisation, and you would like to be kept up to date with school developments or even be involved directly in the life of the school, please complete the form below.
