CAREERS/APPRENTICESHIPS

Careers

Our careers guidance programme is built into the heart of our pastoral support programme with an additional weekly bulletin, for both students and parents/carers signposting the very latest work experience applications, webinars, workshops, trip and visits.

Careers Advice and Guidance

This is available, by appointment, from our on-site whole school careers advisor or from our Sixth Form Study Mentor, Sixth Form tutors or Sixth Form leadership team. Students have access to their tutor every day, as well as well as the following career platforms: Springpod, My Super Curricular and Unifrog.

Careers Lessons

All students receive 1-2-1 advice during mentor time, and attend our on-site ‘Next Steps Conference’ in June of Year 12. Our weekly Tutor Time sessions guide students through a comprehensive careers programme with the most up to date employment, work experience opportunities and subject spotlight information from Springpod and the sites linked below. All students attend our ‘’Next Steps Conference’ event (often held over two or three days) where they meet with both apprenticeship providers and university admissions tutors, after which they all register with UCAS and Gov.uk

The Uni Guide

The Uni Guide is a free and unbiased university advice service from the The Student Room, which is based on content that was originally hosted on Which? University.  Search, sort, compare and shortlist from more than 30,000 full-time and part-time degree courses via UCAS. Match your predicted or actual grades to courses’ entry requirements to narrow down your search. Match your A-levels to degree course possibilities: enter your subjects into our A-level Explorer to see the full breadth of degree subjects you could study (including ones that weren’t on your radar). If you’re a Year 11 student choosing A-levels, you can use the Explorer to see where different combinations will leave you in two years’ time (particularly useful if you already have a degree subject in mind). Enter the ones you’re mulling over and see whether they’ll lead you down the right path.
