  • Year 8 Geometry

We study Angles and Properties of Shapes and how they can be applied to solve geometrical problems including Bearings.  We then look at Transformation Geometry.

All Year 8 students are set a weekly homework which comprises of Times Table practice to develop fluency in this important skill as well as an on-line quiz on Dr Frost Maths. The quiz assesses current and past work to help students to build up a knowledge bank so that essential information is not forgotten.

There is an end of term test which will assess understanding and recall of the material covered this term.

  • Year 8 Further Geometrical Skills

During the Summer Term we cover Pythagoras’ Theorem, Perimeter, area and Volume, Circles, Surface Area, and Plans and Elevations.  We also teach all the compass and ruler constructions.

All Year 8 students are set a weekly homework which comprises of Times Table practice to develop fluency in this important skill as well as an on-line quiz on Dr Frost Maths. The quiz assesses current and past work to help students to build up a knowledge bank so that essential information is not forgotten.

There is an end of year examination which assess all the work covered during both Year 7 and Year 8.

Year 9 Mathematics: Foundation Tier Course Modules

  • AQA 8300: Year 9 Number Work

We spend the first term further developing the Number Work skills covered in Year 7.  The emphasis is on the application of these skills in problem solving situations.

All Year 9 students are set homework which comprises of the following elements:

An on-line quiz from Dr Frost Maths which is on the work covered during the last week.  In addition, there is a Complete Maths quiz which is on the work covered during the prior four weeks of work.

These are both designed to help students build up a knowledge bank so that essential information is not forgotten.

There is an end of term test which will assess the understanding of this module.

  • AQA 8300: Year 9 Geometry

We look at a more formal approach to Geometry, studying Angles in depth, Properties of Polygons, and Bearings.  We also study Perimeter and Area of Shapes, including Compound Shapes and Circles.  Again, the emphasis is on the application of these skills in problem solving situations.

All Year 9 students are set homework which comprises of the following elements:
